The Epiphone ES-335 Figured honors the legendary ES-335, the thin, semi-hollow archtop design that brought archtop class to the rock era. First introduced in 1958, the ES-335 is considered by many players to be one of the most versatile guitar designs ever created. With its thinline, semi-hollow body and f-holes, it looks similar to traditional hollowbody archtop guitars. However, a solid maple centerblock within gives it the feedback resistance and sustain of a solidbody while retaining some of a hollowbody’s resonance, making it a “best of both worlds” design and highly flexible tonally.
The ES-335 Figured is crafted with a five-ply maple body with AAA maple veneer on top, sides, and back for exceptional beauty. As with a regular ES-335, the solid maple centerblock adds sustain while reducing feedback. Single-ply binding frames both the top and back.
The glued-in mahogany neck features a comfortable Rounded C profile that sits somewhere between a beefier 50s-style neck and a SlimTaper profile, making it just right for many players. It is topped with a rosewood fretboard featuring 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid small-block inlays.
The Kalamazoo-style headstock displays the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown, both inlaid in mother of pearl. The headstock is equipped with Vintage Deluxe tuners and a GraphTech® nut, which work in tandem to ensure easy tune-ups and rock-solid stability once it’s there. A nickel-plated LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece deliver full action height and individual string intonation adjustability and contribute to the model’s excellent sustain.
A pair of Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO™ humbucker™ pickups gives the ES-335 Figured its highly versatile, rich, and powerful voice. Each is wired to individual volume and tone controls, with high-quality CTS® potentiometers for reliable, consistent performance.
