Join us December 11th for a night of music, stories, and lessons from the road as Joseph Terrell (Mipso) and Jordan Tice (Hawktail) wrap up their east coast tour right here at Parkway. If you're an acoustic guitar player and/or songwriter looking to add another dimension to your craft, this event is for you. Joseph and Jordan will talk about what it means to play as a duo, how and when to use alternate tunings, and demonstrating how implementing different picking techniques can elevate a song. Our new intimate performance space made from repurposed barn lumber from the early 1800s is the perfect backdrop to what is sure to be an unforgettable night of music.
Joseph Terrell has spent 10 years singing, writing songs, and playing guitar with Americana quartet Mipso. His debut solo album "Good For Nothing Howl" (Sleepy Cat Records) features members of Hiss Golden Messenger, Bon Iver, and Bonny Light Horsemen. Joseph's new singles are stripped-down folk gems showcasing his prowess on the acoustic guitar and his much-admired lyrics, which Indy Week called "dark and mature...awash in mystical sound and symbolism."
Equally virtuosic as a flatpicker and fingerstylist, and with a casual vocal style, Jordan Tice conjures ingredients from seemingly far-flung worlds with ease that have earned him glowing press from such outlets as NPR Music and American Songwriter and taken him to stages such as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the Ryman Auditorium (among many many others). His performances call upon the repertories of American and British Isles folk, bluegrass, blues and more pop-oriented songs, and though his earlier releases are instrumental in focus, he has been carefully honing his craft as a singer-songwriter in his most recent work. This includes his Motivational Speakeasy (produced by Kenneth Pattengale of the Milk Carton Kids).
